Our commitment

Cultural topics deserve accuracy, and cultural topics are full of legitimate variation. When we get a fact wrong — a wrong character, a mislabeled custom, a broken calculation, an unfair generalization — we fix it promptly and say so. When a claim is simply one tradition among several, we label the variation instead of quietly picking a winner.

What counts as a correction

Minor corrections — spelling, punctuation, formatting, a broken link — are fixed quietly, usually the same week. Substantive corrections — a wrong pinyin or character, a misdescribed custom, a mathematical or procedural error, a claim that turns out to be unfounded — are fixed and noted. A substantive correction adds a short dated note to the affected guide, such as: "Corrected August 2026: an earlier version of this page listed the wrong coin combination for the value 9."

How to report something

Email the address on the contact page with the guide's address, the sentence or tool you believe is wrong, and — if you can — a source or a moment of lived experience that supports the correction. Reports from native speakers, practitioners, and readers who live with a custom daily are especially welcome and are prioritized.

How fast we respond

Tool bugs and wrong characters are fixed first — typically within a few business days of confirmation. Broader rewrites that require checking multiple sources may take longer; if so, we mark the affected passage as under review rather than leaving it looking settled.

What we do not do

We do not silently rewrite the substance of a guide and keep its old date. We do not delete criticism of our own work. And we do not treat honest disagreement between regional or family traditions as an error on anyone's part — where traditions differ, the page says they differ.
